And as I experienced more of my world, I learned that we are not all created equal.
I discovered that there was a pecking order… that some humans were above me, while others were below me.
Those “above” made and enforced the rules while those “below” followed them and did the heavy lifting. Peace was maintained as long as everybody knew their place.
The hierarchy seemed so natural… so normal… at the time.
And so I began to assess where I belonged therein… and to accept my station in life.
I “belonged” somewhere in the middle… the very ordinary middle… not because the middle is good… but because that was the world… the ordinary world… to which I was born.
