A Meditation on Life: Consciousness

My growth as a human being is largely the process…

… sometimes joyful, but often painful… of learning to see what is right before my eyes.

Some truths seem so obvious in retrospect that I am embarrassed to admit that I once believed otherwise.

But the biggest blind spot of all is behind my eyes… a psyche that is ever vulnerable to preconception, stereotyping, denial, self-righteousness, obedience, conformity, cowardice, conceit, and self-serving rationalization.

No matter how far I think I have evolved, I suspect that more humbling discoveries are yet to come.

At least I hope so.
