A Meditation on Life: Growing Up

I am a survivor of countless downs and ups…

… of confusion and clarity, sickness and health, resentment and forgiveness, cowardice and courage, doubt and conviction, withdrawal and engagement, shame and redemption, incompetence and mastery, loneliness and fellowship, conflict and reconciliation, self-righteousness and humility, despair and hope.

Never-ending cycles of becoming more… more knowledgeable, more skilled, more honest, more courageous, more compassionate, more generous… more than my genetic endowment… more than the myths and customs of my tribe… more than my regrets and worries… more than my doubts and fears… more than my weaknesses… more than my strengths even.

But no matter how many times I think I have “arrived”, I discover that every destination is just a new beginning.

Fortunately, I would have it no other way.

  1. 🙂 What a wonderfully spiritual person you are, Frank. Not many people have the “capacity” to examine themselves, and grow in such a unique way. You are living a virtuous life, helping those less fortunate, donating your time, resources, and so much more than meets the eye… best to you and to your journey.
