Maybe I just didn’t get it. Quoting, “to realize the profound degree to which my autonomy,

We can, in fact we are designed, to overcome both nature and nurture if we would become full-fledged human beings. A human being exists beyond nature (though participates in it) and must exist as a self-empowered autonomous mind. My earliest challenges were to reject my “nurture” then demonstrate to myself that I could supplant it with greater and better values. I didn’t have to make those up, there are here, waiting for us to choose them, but that’s not on the Earthian agenda. Choosing a “higher” path is where detachment comes in. Without detachment it is impossible to become a free agent, or mind being.
