A Meditation on Life: Monkey See, Monkey Do

Experience teaches me again and again that homogeneity and popularity are unreliable indicators of truth, beauty, and goodness.

Experience teaches me again and again that it is easy to underestimate the ways and degrees to which the actions and opinions of others affect my thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

Experience teaches me again and again that we are all vulnerable…ย and that anyone who thinks they are immune to so many social pressures is making a fatal mistake.

So, what am doing to inoculate myself from becoming the predictable product, for better or worse, of the habits, customs, commandments, prohibitions, rewards, and punishments that engulf me?
