Conspiracy Theory
It’s criminal enough that we are lied to every day by the preachers, politicians, and other charlatans.
But even worse is our readiness… dare I say eagerness… to lie to ourselves…
… to repress, pretend, and rationalize…
… to wrap all our shortcomings… our ignorance, apathy, greed, bigotry, cowardice, and hypocrisy… in the protective cloaks of religious fervor and patriotism.
So, until we stop lying to ourselves, it is we “the faithful”, not they “the authorities”, who are most responsible for perpetuating the fraud.

I believe you follow my blog (https://shatara46.wordpress.com/ – Urgent Message To Americans From Syria. ) If so, may I invite you to consider a comment I just left there for “colettebytes”? More on the conspiracy theory… at the risk of being told, again, I suffer from an overdose of imagination…

Thanks a bunch for chiming in, Robert. I have never thought of the problem that way before. That said, I absolutely agree that there really is such a thing as TOO MUCH imagination! Cheers, mate.

I believe we are all susceptible to this because, deep down, we realize we don’t know who we are, how we got here, or where we’re going. Evolved from stardust? A cosmic accident? God? Existence is mind boggling. Consciousness even more so. The latest “purpose” I’ve read is that we evolved simply to disperse “energy.”

I absolutely agree that we are ALL susceptible, George. And to take your point a step further…. the paradoxical irony is this: It is only those of us who realize and admit that we are all susceptible/vulnerable who have any chance at of rising above it.
