Politics 101: Full Disclosure

In order to put this series of articles in the proper perspective, it pays to know a bit about the writer’s values and motivations…

(1) Frank’s worldview: What I Affirm (3 minute read)

(2) Frank’s extra-partisan politics: My Politics, Part 1 (<1 minute read)

(3) Frank’s reverence for responsible freedom: Politics, Part 2 (<1 minute read)

(4) Frank recently took the Pew Political Typology Quiz. Although the quiz is a bit thin and some of the questions a bit lacking in nuance, Frank has no objections to (and maybe even feels a bit proud of) being categorized as “Outsider Left”.

(5) Frank is proudly progressive regarding LGBTQ+ rights and bodily autonomy for women. These issues alone have galvanized his commitment to vote blue until such rights are guaranteed nationwide.

(6) Frank is baffled, disheartened, nauseated, and infuriated by MAGAt behavior.

(7) Regarding immigration, foreign policy, climate change, education, discrimination, gun violence, criminal justice, drug abuse, and homelessness… anyone with a brain and a heart knows there are no easy answers… and that all attempts to apply simplistic left- or right-wing one-size-fits-all solutions will continue to be epic fails.

Stay Tuned for More.

  1. Ohhhh….this: “Sometimes courage means being a warrior. Sometimes courage means being a peacemaker.” Thank you, Frank. 🥰

  2. Interesting quiz, though in some cases none of the answers were really quite in line with my ideology. I came up as a Progressive Left! I was surprised! I thought I was closer to center than that.

    1. Agreed that some of the questions were lacking in nuance. Sounds like you feel Progressive Left miscategorizes you. I’d love to hear more!

  3. According to that quiz, I’m a “Democratic mainstay”, whatever the hell that means. Looking forward to the rest of this series.

    1. Thanks a bunch for sharing your thoughts, Rosaliene. If those are our only points of disagreement, we are off to a great start! Glad you’re here–not just on this page, but on planet earth.

  4. As always, you get to the point or points straight away. All good, though I’d be careful on the “meekness” one. Those who have closed their minds leave little room for thoughtful conversation unless you have a tool to pry them open. And if you do, do they sell it on Amazon?

    1. Thanks, as always, for your thoughtful commentary, Gerald. Please don’t hesitate to give me a wheel alignment if I need one! Cheers, old friend.
