A uniquely burdened and blessed citizen of the world thinking and acting out loud!
I never had that kind of faith, but I thought I wanted it. I recall watching people receive communion and feeling envy for what I saw as great faith. I now realize that I would have had to share it with great ignorance. How does one unknow something? How can I un-think (or un-see) something? I could not reconcile great religious faith with my versions of honesty and truth, no matter how forcefully I tried. But, I could lie to myself. And I did for a while.
