My Politics: Breaking the Cycle

It feels so wrong to punish children for the sins of their parents…

But weren’t the parents also children once upon a time?

When, if ever, do innocent children become responsible adults? When, if ever, should innocent children become responsible adults… to be held accountable for their actions? (If so, how?)

Does anybody know?

  1. Perhaps when said innocent child / proto-adult has engaged enough with politics for their opinion to matter? In some countries like mine (Australia), not engaging at the polling booth attracts a fine. But still, fewer that is desirable will engage politically, so what of the result? People are too often enticed by shiny things, empty promises. We see this here too increasingly now.

    1. Thanks for sharing your sobering thoughts, David. Alas, I fear that most humans have no more freedom and dignity than Pavlov’s salivating dogs and Skinner’s pecking pigeons.
