Finding My Religion: Prophecy

A real prophet isn’t someone who predicts the future…

A real prophet is someone who creates the future.

A real prophet is the greatest of teachers–one who illuminates the meaning of life not by their professions, but by their exemplary actions.

A real prophet will not tell you how to be happy.
A real prophet will show you how to matter.

As such, a real prophet is always a threat to injustice… and therefore a threat to the status quo and powers that be. It’s no wonder then what the preachers, politicians, and “faithful” do when a real prophet shows up. They ridicule, shun, exile, demonize, scapegoat, imprison, torture, execute, or assassinate them, of course.

Just ask Socrates, Jesus, Galileo, Gandhi, and Doctor King… to name but a few.

  1. Why can’t there be both real prophets who predict and who create the future ~ prophets who create via prediction, prophets who predict and then assist?

It continues to motivate me to the generosity of energy required to read and comment ~ even though I have seen you successfully achieve a mature and open synthesis, and then back away from it again into little compartments with “I am not anything but the definition just plastered onto my box” written over a large red “NO!” ~ but hopefully not for much longer, or any longer.

With anyone of smaller service and lesser potential I would have lapsed into peaceful silence long ago. May I become that now.

You are nearing the end of life. Look up a little.
