Impressive. Why the oxygen? Too high for a non-pressurized plane?
Thanks for asking, Brian.
Denali’s summit is 20,310 feet above sea level. And we flew in an unpressurized cabin thousands of feet higher than that for many minutes, not to mention above 10,000 feet asl for about half an hour. So, yes supplemental O2 was a strict requirement in order to prevent hypoxia. Santé!
This was great fun, Frank. I lived in Anchorage for 6 years, not that far from Potter Marsh (!), and your photos brought back many memories of the ferry and running in Talkeetna and going to Denali, etc. I saw that photo of Devil’s Club and had not-great memories of accidentally grabbing it HA and let out a happy sigh at your photo of the fireweed blooming in front of the glacier. Gorgeous. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much for sharing all that, Tracy. It’s nice to know that my pix brought back some mostly happy memories for you. All the best.
